A question is never silly
Why is there only 16 or 32 or 64 MEGs on board alot of these systems
Well good question! Altho some of our systems have 80-128 160MB or more RAM, the majority have much less, and the reason is
they actually can run FASTER with less memory with the proper OS
I tweek everything and make USE of the memory unlike commerical 'newer laptops' that cost a fortune AND they bloat it with useless features
such as keeping track of what you shop for online or a 2 or 3 versions of the same program running all at once , i hate that.. therefore i love to tweek and learn and make your laptop run the way it should, lean and efficient, less waste, more fun! Same goes with harddrive ,
more optimized means more room for you to store your files! and you can always upgrade your harddrive at any time, pop and load i call it, you will love what i did, i guarantee it!
